The weather was nearly perfect for this hike - sunny, but not too sunny; cloudy, but not too cloudy; breezy, but not...you get the idea :). The drive up took a little longer (1 hr and 45 minutes) than we thought due to lots of road construction taking place on Mayfield Rd and Hwy 10, but we all got there at about the same time. Once at the parking lot, we were surprised to find that the parking fee had to be paid all in coins (no bills/credit card payment) and was $5 for four hours/$11 for the whole day. Newly coinless, we then started the hike.

Simba the dog was a great hiker, as always! We hiked through countryside with remains of old orchards and hardwood/coniferous woods up to the clifftop trail. We stopped for lunch by one of the lookout points, where Simba sampled a bit of everything. He recommended Dorota's sausage and cheese in particular. After lunch, we did a loop around McCarstens Lake and then back to the clifftop trail, down again, and then back up for a slightly different route. Coordinators planning to hike here should note that the Toronto Hiking map is a bit unclear, and that the total distance is closer to 12k than 16k (according to Rich's invaluable GPS unit). Nevertheless, we had a great hike due to the nice weather, clear views across miles of countryside, many wildflowers blooming and interesting conversations along the way.
