It was a cool overcast day. About 10C. We started at the rail trail head just down the street from McMaster university. The rail bed slowly climbed out of the Dundas valley pass Sulphur Springs Rail Station. The station acts as a visitor station for the Dundas Conservation Authority. We continue to climb to the old Summit Station at kilometer 12.3 mark. Here the old concrete foundations and pipework are all that remains of the old water tower. The water tower was used to fill the steam locomotive trains in the early 1900's. For the next 15 km's we pass woodlots and farm fields. At kilometer 25.5 we pass under the highway #403 bridge. At kilometer 30 we pass by the Grand River. Our exit of the trail is at kilometer 32, where we head NW throught Mohawk Park to pop out across the street from our lunch stop at Wendy's. By the way the trail continues on up the Grand River to Paris and Cambridge. Homeward bound with the wind at our backs and more or less a net downhill run, Melissa lead the way back to Hamilton. The sun managed to shine through for the last 5km. Gary
