Write Up:
We stayed in a student residence at Brock University and had three days of excellent cycling. On the Saturday, after arriving at Brock bright and early, we cycled the Welland Canal path. A few of us went all the way from St. Catharines to Port Colborne and back. Others opted for a shorter distance. On Sunday, we drove to Niagara on the Lake and cycled the Niagara Parkway. Helene and Jim went all the way to Fort Erie and back, and found a very nice cafe in Fort Erie. Others went shorter distances. Unfortunately, Jim suffered a flat tire, and then two further pinch flats, on Sunday's ride, and got lots of practice changing his front tire. He is now a tire-changing expert! On Monday, we all left Brock University and drove to Grimsby. After parking our cars, we cycled from Grimsby to Hamilton and back (roughly). The waterfront trail near Grimsby goes through some industrial areas, which may not be pleasing to everyone, but the path nearer to Hamilton proper is quite wide and nice. We stopped for lunch near Confederation Park before reversing course and heading back to the cars. David B proceeded to the Oakville area, where a few of us met up on the way home for some free coffee and jazz. It was an excellent weekend of cycling, and we are sure to return to the Niagara Region again at some point this year.
