It was a balmy –17, not the brisk –22 we were expecting. No moon but the stars were out and it seemed to me every time I looked up there was the big dipper guiding my way. The trail was lovely lit only by lanterns, their flame peaking up whenever we had any doubt as to which way to go. Headlamps would definitely be helpful on this evening ski and we did at least have two between the five of us. A relatively flat trail with just a couple of declines, one in particular edging on ‘hill’. And a bonfire greeted us at the ½ way point where we sat for a bit with some hot apple cider before continuing on.

I say five but in reality there were 6 as Tim who apologized profusely for getting the time mixed up, decided to join the down hill skiers. We never did meet up but we did exchange a couple of calls and then there was Steven who graciously bowed out so the five remaining could fit in one car…only on the promise that he would sign up for the next night xc ski event!

Thanks Desiree for taking pictures!

All in all, a great evening.
