Write Up:
The lesson for this event got off a bit, and I’m sorry to the participants about that. I got a bit of climbing in, but I was pretty busy as usual most of the time, even though I wasn’t taking pictures. The peculiar thing about this lesson is that almost everyone in it had climbed before, just not for a while. I think only Lilly and Robert truly had never climbed before.

Rafal & Dmitry rejoined the group, after being away for some time, so it was good to see them again. Wilson also came and climbed again, this was his 2nd event with us, but I know he’s climbed a bit in between events. He barely made it because of a class, but I think he squeezed a bit of climbing in there.

I introduced the new people to the experienced climbers as soon as the lesson let out, organized a bit of car-pooling and handed directions to my place. I had to get to my place in time to make this plantain chip thing that was supposed to be an appetizer while we waited for pizza, but it didn’t quite work out that way because of time. I don’t cook much, but I had my mom show me how to make this veggie dip thing we call “chimol”. I chose to make this because it’s ethnic and it’s not the kind of thing people have every day, and it’s not that hard to make.

The billiard room in my building worked out really well. Kim actually got to play pool for the 1st time and we got a chance to sing happy birthday for Dmitry. I’m getting kind of jealous that Lisa’s baking tends to steal the show, and her coconut cake did it again, but it should be said that Christina’s caramel cake was nice too, but admittedly she didn’t bake it. Also, is it just me, or was Dmitry a little TOO obsessed with Lisa’s baking?

So after all of that, we spent the rest of the afternoon swimming and soaking in the Jacuzzi, or at least those of us who aren’t wusses (Yeah, I’m looking at you, Kim & Sharon).

Upstairs in my place, most people were pleasantly freaked out to discover themselves in my collage of climbers, except Dave, but why am I not surprised. My kitten fell in love with Sharon, and she seemed to like Pia too, but unfortunately, the feeling wasn’t mutual.

Once again, I thank everyone for making this a great event. They just seem to keep getting better and better. So we’ll have to see if this outdoor Jacuzzi thing works out for November. Here’s the link to the next event.
