Another wonderful camping trip. The food - excellent! Thanks to campsite 64 for all their hard work cooking, cleaning, chopping wood etc. We gained a few new nicknames: Jason continued his reign as 'el rey del fuego', Trish is "firefly" for being 'backlit', and the Jenns were referred to as Big Jenn and Little Jenn, mostly b/c Chris would not believe Jenn 2 could lift the cement canoe on her own. She proved him wrong! We had some familiar faces and some new ones - welcome Lorie and Augusta and Mark on your first TOC event , and how brave of you to join us crazy campers! We only got one noise warning this time around. And that's with Chuck at the site! We had some visitors, too - masses of racoons who swarmed everyone's sites. Crafty ones that could open coolers, but could not open our tetrapaks of wine. At least not *this* year.

It was a great park and we'll definately return next year.

Highlights for me included:
- our boat tour, on which we saw the pictographs up close and learned about the disgusting yet ingenious habits of turkey vultures
- Saturday's potluck, which included Thai, Chinese, Italian and Turkish delicacies and even pot roast! I've had to revise my idea of "camp food"
- a midnight swim. On the way to North Beach we took the "scenic route" (in the dark, not so scenic) since we relied on the directions of Chris and Chuck, who'd actually gotten lost the night before. However, the swim was worth the trouble - the lake was very quiet, and the sky clear. We floated while looking up at millions of stars and the Milky Way.
I still can't believe the raccoons didn't burst Trish's inflatable chair. Guess they were more interested in food than in comfort
