Write Up:
For those of us forced to stay indoors during the week, this was the perfect day to get out and enjoy nature. A huge March snowstorm had passed through the day before and the clocks were set ahead an hour for daylight savings time, but still a group of 6 intrepid TOCers; Kingston, Kate, Lynn, Nicole S., Mark M., and Justin, showed up for a posted 21km hike.

The amount of snowfall made this the perfect opportunity to use snowshoes. While not everyone had snowshoes, we did share so everyone had a chance to use them. We had beautiful sunny weather and an extra hour of daylight for the hike, which we used to our full advantage.

The goal of 21km was not reached, but we achieved 14km in the end, through snow that was between 30cm and a metre deep. And in the end we all had a great time, which is all that counts.

After returning to the cars, we headed back to Chalker’s and enjoyed good food, company, and live jazz.
