Another beautiful day!! We have been incredibly lucky this year. If you've been spending the winter indoors, you have missing out - sunny, warm, fresh air, fun and great people!

Wye Marsh is a treat for nature lovers. Dogs are not only allowed but enthusiastically welcomed (on leash, of course). Admission and rental costs are more than reasonable. I was a bit surprised that they had the 'oldfashioned' snow shoes, but the land is flat and the trails wide and forgiving, so you don't need anything more. The trails are well marked (for the most part!) , with signs identifying the trees and landscape. The views are spectacular, with lookout towers and blinds throughout the grounds to get a better view. The winter wildlife was sparse, but we were able to get very close to the flock of trumpeter swans. The highlight was having the wild (but plump!) chickadees eat right out of your hands!

It appears that snowshoeing is not intuitive, and most of our group was happy to turn them in after the first couple of hours. Some of us decided that we where going to continue stomping around, but while we decided to break new trail, Kathie gave up, and left just Tina and myself to continue with snowshoes all the way to the bitter end. We Won!!! but I'm not sure what we won, other than some pretty sore legs the next morning....

Rocky had a great time and bonded with his new best friend, Kyra - who is welcome to be Rocky's keeper on any future events :)

When we returned to the city, some of us headed to the Frog & Firkin for some post hiking eats and conversation before heading home where most of us had a very early night. I think we'll be heading back to Wye Marsh again.
