Write Up:
Despite the disruption caused by the closing of Hwy 401 due to the Sunrise Propane explosion, everyone got to the departure point on time, and eight intrepid TOC members ventured out into the wilds of Flamborough.
Given that this has been the wettest summer on record, it inevitably rained. We got wet. Given the hilly terrain at the top end of the hike, it was a relief that no-one came home with mud above their knees - we obviously all have good boots and balance!
The Royal Botanical Gardens' staff member at the Nature Centre very kindly allowed us to sit in the Education Room for lunch, so we didn't have to eat soggy sandwiches, and were able to dry off slightly before heading back out into the inclement weather.
Post-hike refreshments were enjoyed at Bert and Ernie's, the de facto official TOC venue in the west end. All event coordinators leaving from Kipling are encouraged to use the facility - the beer is cheap and the wings are dynamite!!
