Bruce Trail - Ray Lowes Side Trail (8/10/2008)

Itinerary:

Starting in Rock Chapel, we'll follow the main Bruce Trail at a leisurely pace through the Hopkins Creek valley, to the Ray Lowes Side Trail which will lead us to Raspberry House, the BTC HQ. We'll have a relaxing picnic lunch (BYO) at Raspberry House, and then retrace our footsteps back to Rock Chapel.

Total hiking distance is around 8k and we'll hike this at a comfortable pace of around 3km/hr.

After we get back to Toronto, those who want to enjoy good food, good drink and good conversation will retire to an establishment near the carpool location.


Required Items to Bring:
  • Picnic lunch
  • 2L water
  • Sun screen
  • Bug repellent
  • Sun hat
  • Sturdy footwear - hiking boots are recommended
Recommended Items to Bring:

  • Rain jacket
  • Suitable day pack (not something carried by hand)
  • Walking poles if you like using them
  • Blanket or other item to sit on at lunch

Event Directions:NOTE: There will be NO meeting at the event. Everyone must meet at the carpool in order to attend this hike. Directions & maps will be provided at the carpool.

Carpool Cost: Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $28.38 (calculated at total Km * $0.258, effective Monday, May 6, 2024). This is based on $0.08/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divide by 9. Your event coordinator will confirm exactly how much money is required from each person.

Notes:
  1. If we are short of drivers, they will get priority on the waiting list.
  2. This hike will go ahead rain or shine. If it's raining, please bring suitable rain gear.
