4.5-5.5 km/h Night Hike: Danforth Village to Golden Mile & Ionview (9.5 KM) (4/6/2022)

Directive From The TOC Executive

Interim COVID-19 Rules for the Toronto Outdoor Club

  • You must meet the following four conditions to participate in any TOC events.
    Within the 14 days preceding the event:
    1. You have not travelled outside of Ontario;
    2. You don’t have any COVID-19, cold, or flu symptoms;
    3. You have not knowingly been in contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case;
    4. You have taken and passed the Ontario COVID-19 self-assessment on- line questionnaire.
  • You will bring a cloth mask/face covering, which you will wear during the event meet-up, plus any time during the event when the 2m social distancing is not possible.
  • You will comply with any other rules as detailed on the TOC Rules Amendments
  • You will comply with any additional rules set by the organizer of the event for which you have registered, which could be more strict than the ones detailed above.

NOTES

  • These rules are in effect immediately and until further notice.
  • YOU MUST CONFIRM IN THE "NOTES" SECTION DURING SIGN UP THAT YOU MEET ALL THE CONDITIONS LISTED IN THIS DIRECTIVE AND YOU WILL COMPLY WITH ALL THE INTERIM RULES.
    Your event coordinator has been instructed to remove your event registration without further notice if you do not take this step during your registration.
  • Your coordinator may also remove you from the event (even after it has started) if you fail to comply with the rules, and report you back to the TOC Executive.
  • If you cannot or do not wish to follow these temporary rules, please wait to sign up for any TOC events until the interim rules are lifted.

EVENT DETAILS

So, the random hike picker has selected this route for today.

Tonight's 9.5 KM route will traverse from Main Street Station to Kennedy Station.
Some interesting spots include

  • 'Taylor Creek Park'.
  • 'Warden Woods'.
  • 'The Neighbourhood Of Golden Mile'.
  • 'The Neighbourhood Of Ionview'.

    • This hike will be on a combination of sidewalks, paved paths, a grassy field (which might be wet) and a single track dirt path.

    In terms of hills, probably about 2 climbs of at least 25 meters.

    We'll aim for a pace of 4.5-5.5 km/h.

    I don't believe that there will be any washrooms open on the hike this time of the year, so I would suggest coming early and using the Tim Horton located just south of Main Street Station.

    I usually carry a pair of icers with me from the first snowfall of the year until the end of April, so I recommend having a pair in your pack to deal with any potential ice.

    • How to Get There:
    Event Directions:

    Main Street Subway Station is located on the eastern side of the Bloor/Danforth subway line.

    We'll meet just outside the station. If it's cold or wet, I'll just be inside the station doors.

    For those driving, the subway entrance is located on Main Street, just north of Danforth on the east side.
    In terms of parking, you can park on Main Street north of Danforth after 6 PM.
