52. Hockley Valley North (18 KM) (4/23/2022)

Itinerary:

By signing up for this event, you agree to, and acknowledge, the following:

  2. If you are unvaccinated and have travelled outside of Canada within the last 14 days, you are compelled by law to be in quarantine and cannot lawfully attend this event, as per the Federal Government’s website
  3. You will take and pass the Ontario COVID-19 self-assessment on-line questionnaire. within 48 hours of the start of the event.

EVENT DETAILS

So, this is my first time leading this north longer version of Hockley Valley, however I've done all of the sections at least twice before.
Pretty difficult hike with A LOT of hills, but always quite beautiful.

Please bring a lunch and at least 1-2 Litres of water. We will find a place to stop for lunch somewhere along the trail.

EVENT STATS

  • Distance: 18 KM
  • Terrain: Single or double tracked dirt paths, which is often super muddy this time of the year.
  • Trail vs Road: 18 vs 0
  • Elevation Range: 125 Meters
  • Challenging Climbs of Note: 6 climbs of at least 50 meters and another 4 of at least 25 meters.
  • Largest Ascent: 100 m
  • Washrooms: No
  • Highlights: A few Lookouts and a few nice streams

    PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE WON'T BE A CARPOOL FOR THIS HIKE DUE TO CURRENT TOC COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS

    Event Directions:

    Approx address: 327060 Dunby Rd, Mono - 44°00'23.2"N 80°03'33.8"W

    Please note that my event directions are from SHEPPARD WEST STATION.

    • Leaving Sheppard West - take the Allen Road south to the 401.
    • Travel west along Highway 401 to Highway 410 (15 KM)
    • Merge with Highway 410 and follow it North for approx. 78 km (NOTE: HWY 410 will eventually turn into HWY 10)
    • Turn right (EAST) at RR 8 Mono Centre Road for 4 KM.
    • Turn right onto Sideroad 15 and then immediately right again (SOUTH) onto 2 Line E for 600 Meters.
    • Turn left onto Dunby Road (East) for 600 meters and side road parking will be located on the right.

    POTENTIAL WASHROOM STOP
    There aren't any washrooms located at the park.
    Your best best is to use either the Tim Hortons in Caledon Village @ Charleston Sideroad or in Orangeville @ 5th Ave.
