Itinerary:

Event Description:

The White Mountain National Forest contains pristine streams and rivers, majestic forests and the crown jewel of the Presidential Range, Mount Washington, at 6,288 feet above MSL, the highest point in North America east of the Mississipi river.

The itinerary for the weekend will be:

  • Fri, June 27 - Drive Toronto -> North Conway
  • Sat, June 28
  • Sun, June 29   > Hiking Presidential Range, including Mt Washington: route options
  • Mon, June 30 /
  • Tue, July 01 - Drive North Conway -> Toronto

Accommodation is in a condominium unit so meals will be prepared by the group, or we can eat out, as the group chooses.

Mt Washington is notorious for bad weather - the highest wind speed ever recorded on the planet was at the summit. The weather can go from sunny, warm summer day to howling gale to blizzard at any time of year, and it is not unknown to have snow year round.

Physical fitness and endurance will be paramount for this hiking trip as all three hiking days will be about 8 hours for the round trip. Mt Washington has an altitude gain of about 3600' between the base station and the summit.
