The great thing about the Queen Elizabeth Wildlands is--they are wild. Maintenance on the Ganaraska Trail which runs through this section is minimal.

We will add to maximum 6 people if we can get an extra driver.

The plan is to leave on Saturday morning. We will drive up to Devils Lake access point and hike around 10KM. The distance depends on the weather condition. If time permitted, we will hike to the highest peak at the Park, and the view is awesome no matter which seasons you visit. On Sunday, we will hike back to our cars and head back to Toronto.

The distance is D3. However, considering the cold weather condition and rugged terrain, this is a D4 event. There are some beaver damns serve as bridges. Trail markings are sparse. There is little to distract from the essentials of trail blazing. Get out your hiking poles, you'll need them on this challenging section of Ganaraska trail between Devils Lake and Victoria Lake.

We will walk at the pace of the SLOWEST member of the group. I do not hike fast because I like to take time to enjoy the scenery. I also take some pictures on the way. If you are a fast hiker and do not want to wait for the group, this is not a trip for you.

Backpacking/camping experience is recommended. You must be able to hike the 10K distance on rugged terrain with a heavy backpack. If you have not been on a backpacking trip with the TOC, please mention your experience on the Notes section while signing up. You can also email me about your experience. Please let me know the details in the timely manners, or I have to put you back to the waiting list as there are others who are also interested in the event.

For this trip, carpool arrangements, shared gear and the group dinner will be decided at the pre-trip meeting. There is a pre-trip meeting on Nov. 9, 2015 at 7pm. Please make sure that you are able to come. The location will be either near Bathurst station or Finch Station. I will send out the exact location via email.

Please be aware that the weather can be really cold at night. Please make sure your sleeping bag is in well condition and has a rating at least -10~-15C (better also bring a liner). Gears can be rented from MEC.

About food, please prepare your own lunch and breakfast. Please make the meal simple as we may not have lot of time for breakfast and lunch. For Dinner, we would like to have a group meal, but it's optional. You can choose to opt in for group meal or make your own dinner. I will make a veggie dish while Charlene is very generous to offer a beef chili. And also Kevin & Mag is going to bring a dish as well.

Note: Please wear bright color due to the hunting season. And we are hiking on crown land, so parking and camping is free. Please remember "leave no trace". Leaving garbage on the campsite and dumping food in the water is not allowed. In case of snow/icy condition, please bring an icer.
