Itinerary:

Note: Drivers will get preference on the waiting list. I'll increase the maximum number of participants as we get more drivers. You can also meet us directly at the park - I'll move you to the attendee list.

The 1690-acre Bronte Creek Provincial Park is home to a sizeable Carolinian forest, which has white-tailed deer, red foxes and a number of birds. We'll go on a 10 km hike (3 km/hr) along the Bronte Creek, which divides the Park into two parts.

The Park is celebrating its annual Maple Syrup Festival this month. We'll set aside 2-3 hours to explore the festival. You can enjoy a guided tour of the Maple Lane, where people in vintage costumes will demonstrate how to tap maple trees, make maple syrup and maple sugar. In addition, you can visit the small maple museum and the century-old Spruce Lane Farmhouse. You also have the option to have a Victorian-style portrait taken of you and your friends in classic Victorian costumes.

There is a fee of $16 per vehicle, which will be shared by the group. E.g. if we've 2 cars and 8 passengers, everyone pays $4; If we've 2 cars and 5 passengers, everyone pays $6.5 (this is what is indicated in the "member cost" below). This is in addition to the carpool cost, which will be around $5.

Required Items to Bring:
  • Water
  • Lunch/Snacks (or cash to buy small meals available at the Park)
  • Hiking shoes
  • Post-hike footwear (only for the carpool passengers: to help keep the cars clean)
  • Weather-appropriate clothing
  • ≈$10 in cash for the carpool + entry fee
