Itinerary:
Have you had a hankering to check out the fall foliage -- but too busy to get out of the city? Come scout for leaves that have changed and other signs of the season on a short, SLOWPOKE hike through beautiful High Park.

The volunteer coordinator, a.k.a. me, is recovering from an injury so this will NOT be a fast hike. We will be walking at a moderate pace of 3.5 - 4.0 Km/hour inside the trails of High Park – some paved and some dirt.

We will go at the pace of the slowest person, likely walking about 8 km or so in about 2-2.5 hours. If you want to walk fast, this is NOT the hike for you!

We'll meet at the benches and water fountain in High Park on the southwest corner of the intersection at Bloor St. and Keele. It's kitty-corner (diagonally opposite) to the Keele subway station.

We’ll follow the trails and roads south along the east side of the park, past the playground and zoo. Then we may cross the highway south to the Lakeshore Trail and walk east to the Palais Royale Bridge.

After our stroll by the big lake, we’ll return to High Park and the calmer waters (and ducks and swans) of Grenadier Pond. We’ll curve along the park’s west side, then up through the West Ravine Trails. Finally, we’ll cross some open fields, a patch of forest and voila! We’ll be back at the northeast corner near Keele Station.

Required Items to Bring:
  • Runners, walking shoes or hiking footwear
  • Water if you want it
  • Poncho / Rain Jacket
  • Warm coverings for head and hands as it could be chilly, especially by the water if the wind is up!
Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:By subway: Get off at the Keele subway station on the Bloor line. Go outside and head south to the intersection of Bloor and Keele. Cross to the southwest corner of the intersection, on the edge of High Park, where there's a bench or two and a water fountain.

If driving, please check for road closures - the Don Valley Parkway might be closed in parts this weekend. There's no parking lot at the spot we're meeting so you'll have to look for street parking.
