Crawford Forestry To Rattlesnake Point & Back (18 KM) (8/24/2013)

Itinerary:

THE CARPOOL DEPARTURE TIME IS 8:00 AM

We'll be taking the Bruce Trail from the Crawford Forestry Tact to Rattlesnake Point & back in a nice 18 KM loop.

This is an intermediate hike that involves some hills, uneven terrain, including some nice fun rocky areas and probably some muddy spots.

To come on this hike, you must be willing to travel at a MINIMUM PACE OF 4.5 km per hour.

Please bring a lunch and at least 1-2 Litres of water. We will find a place to stop for lunch @ the halfway point, but there will not be any drop offs.

Total Distance 18 km

DRIVERS, WHEN YOU SIGN UP, PLEASE WRITE IN THE NOTES SECTION, THE AMOUNT OF PASSENGERS YOU CAN TAKE IN YOUR CAR! If this is not completed, you may be moved to the wait line until this question is answered

If you cannot walk the entire distance, please do not sign up for this hike.

NOTE: THE CARPOOL DEPARTURE TIME FROM DOWNSVIEW IS 8:00 AM

There are no washroom facilities at the start of the hike

Directions to Crawford Forestry From Downsview

  • Exit parking lot
  • Turn Left onto Sheppard Ave
  • Turn Left at first traffic light onto Allen Road South
  • Take the 401 exit westbound for about 53 km
  • Get off the 401 at Guelph Line (Exit 312) and travel south (To the left)
  • Travel south for 1 km to the 2nd traffic light at Campbell Ave and take a right (go west) Travel along Campbell for 1.5 km, at Twiss Road take a left (south)
  • NOTE: Twiss Road is the first road following the Railway Crossing
  • Take Twiss Road for about 4 KM until the road goes down and shifts to the right. At the bottom of the hill, is the access to the Bruce trail
  • There is parking on both sides of the road
  • NOTE: IF YOU DRIVE TO DERRY RD/REGIONAL RD 7, YOU’VE GONE TOO FAR

    For those meeting at the event, please arrive on time, I will not wait for stragglers.
