Itinerary:

This event is for experienced backpackers only. Participants must be active TOC members and able to demonstrate fitness and backpacking experience.

This trip will do the challenging La Cloche Silhouette Trail in Killarney Provincial Park in its entirety. This trail is one of the most beautiful and difficult in Ontario.

Participants should have basic backpacking gear - lightweight gear - such as a backpack and sleeping bag. Gear such as tents and stoves can possibly be shared (to be discussed at pre-meeting).

The itinary is as follows:

  • Day 1 (Thu) - Drive up to Killarney, lunch (Fish&Chips?) in Killarney, hike to campsite H46 (Bunnyrabbit Lake) - 18k
  • Day 2 (Fri) - H46 (Bunnyrabbit Lake) to H33 (Little Mountain Lake) including Silver Peak - 20k
  • Day 3 (Sat) - H33 (Little Mountain Lake) to H19 (Threenarrows Lake) - 17k
  • Day 4 (Sun) - H19 (Threenarrows Lake) to H1 (Lumsden Lake) - 20k
  • Day 5 (Mon) - H1 (Lumsden Lake) to car - 3k, drive back to Toronto.
  • This is a relaxing overnight trip for experienced backpackers. The focus is on enjoying the scenery, going for swims, etc. The plan is not to spend the entire day on the trails.

Please only sign up if you are confident that you can complete the hiking of each day in 6 hours (not including the stops to enjoy the scenery). If I have not backpacked with you before, please send me a summary of your backpacking experience to be considered for this trip.

If you are not familiar with the La Cloche Silhouette Trail, a nice map of Killarney can be found here: http://www.thekillarneymap.com/
Note that the hiking times do not apply for this trip, but the distances and elevations are still the same. :)
