Backpacking the Highland Trail in Algonquin - 2nd loop (4/12/2013)

PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED: Once you've reviewed the event details, and decided you'd like to join us, you MUST sign up at the bottom of this page.You will then make your payment for this event at the venue, NOT in advance to the TOC.

Itinerary:

We will leave Toronto on Friday evening and head to Mew Lake campground where we will stay on Friday night. We will backpack the 35K loop of the Highland trail on Saturday and Sunday, returning back to Toronto on Sunday night. On Saturday night, we will camp on one of the beautiful lakeside campsites on the trail.

This trip is for experienced hikers/ backpackers. If you have not been on any D4 overnight events with the TOC, please mention your experience on the Notes section while signing up

A pre-meeting for this trip will be held on Monday, April 8, 2013 at 7:00pm at Chalkers Pub at 247 Marlee Ave., North York to discuss car pooling arrangements, trip expectation and route, food planning and equipment. If you are unable to make the pre- meeting you must contact me to make alternative arrangements or you will be dropped from the trip.

You will carry what you bring, so pack light.

Backpack 50-60L

Hiking Boots

Suitable clothing for weather + spare

Whistle

Sleeping Bag

Toiletries + Toilet Paper

Headlamp

Nalgene wide-mouth water bottles or hydration bladder (total capacity should be or exceed 2L)

Cup, Bowl, Eating Utensils

Food - will be discussed at pre-meeting

Carpool Cost: Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $165.12 (calculated at total Km * $0.258, effective Monday, April 29, 2024). This is based on $0.08/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divide by 9. Your event coordinator will confirm exactly how much money is required from each person.
