Easter Monday Exploration of Liberty Village (14 KM) (4/1/2013)

Itinerary:

An urban exploration hike for those of us who have a holiday Monday.

  • 10:00 AM - Meet up at the Starbucks @ 155 University Avenue, just north of the St. Andrew subway station. Look for Justin sporting a TOC 2013 badge on a hat.
  • 10:05 AM - We'll head south to Union Station, and then to Roundhouse Park, and walk around the historic roundhouse.
  • Now proceeding west, we will pass through Canoe Landing and continue towards Fort York
  • We will cut through the free section of Fort York and then continue west into Liberty Village.
  • We will explore some of the historic buildings still left standing after the condo boom, and stop at the Roastery Coffee house for a pick me up.
  • After leaving Liberty Village we will head north east and pass through Trinity Bellwoods Park, then head south to Stanley Park
  • From Stanley Park we will head north east and pass through Alexandra Park, then east to Grange Park
  • Finally we will arrive at Nathan Phillips Square where you can indulge in some street food before parting ways. (Osgoode subway station close by)
  • NOTES:

  • This event will run rain, shine or snow
  • We may deviate from the above itinerary to explore points of interest.

  • Required Items to Bring:
  • Weather appropriate, active, layered clothing
  • hat, toque, gloves, mitts as required
  • Sunscreen/sunblock (even on cloudy days)
  • Bottle of water
