Itinerary:

BACKPACKER TRAINING HIKE

Have you ever wondered if you could hike 18 km with a full backpack? Here's a chance to start out slow and see how it goes. We will hike 6 km, from Eglinton West station down to Rosedale Station, carrying full packs. You can weight your pack with whatever you like, it doesn't have to be stuffed with backcountry gear, but it should weigh 25+ lbs. (If you are not sure if you can go 6 km at an easy average pace of 3.5km/hr then try tap water in empty water containers so if you are really lagging behind you can pour out some of the weight).

Also, you will need a proper pack, one that carries the weight on your hips. If you don't have one, Mountain Equipment and other outdoor stores rent them for a nominal fee - call to book in advance though. They can also advise you on getting a pack that fits you properly, so if you're not sure then drop by their store before our hike!

After our hike we can go somewhere closeby for a quick brunch.

We will follow this path:

  1. Depart from Eglinton West Station
  2. Down through Cedarvale
  3. Past Casa Loma (optional detour for some stair-running with packs)
  4. Through Roycroft Park
  5. Through Ramsden Park
  6. Arrive Rosedale Subway Station
WEATHER: This event is going ahead rain or shine. Bring rain gear just in case..

PRIORITY: If there is a waiting list priority will go to newer members or beginner backpackers.

NO SHOWS: If you can't make it please remove yourself from the event by the cutoff time. Anyone cancelling after that may receive a No Show.

WAITING LIST: If you are a new member I will try to get you on an event. Otherwise, to help make the waiting list fair to everyone I will give priority to people who regularly show up when they sign up.
