PHOTO NIGHT: “LIGHT GRAFFITI”

Rescheduled from February. Everyone on the list from that event has been moved over automatically.

Light painting (or light graffiti) is a fun night- time photo technique that produces some unusual images. You use a very long exposure and "paint" in the air with a flashlight or other light source. Here are some web pages with examples of what we will be doing, from the simple to the complex...! Light painting - examples. There's also a Flickr light painting group that's got some excellent examples.

We'll meet on the south east corner of Bloor + Parkside Drive (Keele TTC) at 7 pm and split into groups of 4-5. Each group will scout out a good background location for their shots and work together on painting images. You can also work on your own if your camera has a delayed timer although it's more fun to collaborate! You must stay with your group, please do not walk off on your own in the Park in the dark. After half an hour we'll regroup + switch/ scout out new locations.

You don’t need a DSLR camera as long as your camera can take an exposure that's a couple of minutes long. You will absolutely need a flashlight and tripod and you may also want to bring a cable release. Wear black or dark navy (including gloves and hat or hoodie) so you don't show up in the photos.

In total we may end up walking 6-8 km but is not meant to be any kind of a workout. It will likely be cold and you’ll be standing around so remember to dress warmly.

Under the Notes please answer the following two questions... (Please do NOT email me with this info as I will never be able to keep track of it)
What make and model of camera do you have? ie Canon Powershot, Canon 30D etc
Do you know how to take long exposures - what is the longest exposure setting on your camera (note that "bulb" is a setting!)
Do you currently own a tripod?

NO SHOWS: Remember to remove yourself from the event before the cutoff to avoid a No Show.

WAITING LIST: If you are a new member I will try to get you on an event. Otherwise, to help make the waiting list fair to everyone I will give priority to people who regularly show up when they sign up. People who have trouble getting out to events they sign up for and have dropped out a day or so beforehand (for whatever reason) may be moved to the waiting list for any other of my events they are on.
