Itinerary:

Our today's adventure begins with the stop at the St. Jacobs Farmers Market . The market has hundreds of food and craft vendors both indoors and outdoors bring you Ontario's farm-fresh produce, meats, cheese, baking and more. I will bring a large cooler in the trunk of my car that I'll share with folks that want to keep any perishable purchases until we get back home. Other drivers may wish to do the same. If you did not pack your lunch, this may be the place to get something. Note that if you have very specific dietary requirements, I'm not sure if you'll be guaranteed to get what you need.

Our next stop will be the Village of St. Jacobs which just a few km down the road where we play the role of tourists and partake in some of the highlights of the self guided village walking tour. From what I can see, the admission to the museum/galleries/displays appear to be free.

Our last stop will be the coolness (hopefully) of the the Elora Gorge Conservation . "Elora Gorge is one of the most beautiful and spectacular natural area in the Grand River valley. The Grand River rushes through the gorge, which has 22-metre high cliffs. Riverside trails (with safety barriers) and scenic overlooks provide hikers with stunning views of the water far below where kayakers and tubers make their way through the rapids." We'll find a cool place to eat our lunch and then explore the trails and lookouts before heading home. There are some conflicting details as to how long or how far you can travel on the trails - minimum of 3 km and max 10 km. Perhaps it would depend on where we leave our cars. In any case, it will be an adventure, so be prepared for a longer hike. If the water level cooperates, we may be able to access the bottom of the gorge - using stairs - not scaling the cliffs... don't worry!. The estimated time of arrival back at Kipling is by 6 PM.

Bring your own snacks, lunch and water unless you plan to buy these in St. Jacobs market or the village.

Sunglasses and sunscreen are also a must. If it's sunny as it's quite open and bright. Bug spray for the hike in Elora Gorge may be required.

There is $5.25/adult admission that you'll have to pay on arrival to Elora Gorge Conservation area. Any additional parking fees will be added to your share of carpool expenses. We'll go rain or shine. Please don't sign up if you're afraid of light sprinkle of rain. I will cancel/postpone the event if forecast calls for heavy rain and/or thunder.

Please arrive to Kipling by about 7:20 AM so that we can depart ON TIME.
