Itinerary:
We will meet at the Royal York Subway station at 10 a.m., just outside the Royal York Road entrance. From there we will do a loop ride through central Etobicoke, where we will encounter some demanding hills that will get the heart pumping. We will eventually head down to the Waterfront Trail, using the Humber River trail, and we will ride in an easterly direction towards the downtown, where we will stop for lunch at Shoeless Joe's. After that, we will return in a westerly direction to our starting point, Royal York Subway station.

On this ride, we will be following mostly bike lanes, bike paths and low-traffic streets through quiet residential areas. In order to participate in the ride, you must have experience riding on city streets, alongside automobiles and other types of traffic, and you must at all times ride with consideration of your own safety, the safety of other riders, the safety of pedestrians and all other members of the public whom we may encounter.

This ride will be at an average pace of about 22 km per hour. This may be faster than you think, so be sure you can maintain this speed if you are going to sign up. The group will not be waiting up for slow-pokes, as this is NOT a slow-poke ride. The intention is to complete the ride by no later than 4:00 p.m.

If you are going to participate in this ride, you must ensure that your bike is tuned up. Please come prepared for riding in cooler temperatures. Gloves and neck-warmer are a good idea.

Note: All participants in this event must ride with caution on city streets and obey all traffic lights and rules of the road.

Required Items to Bring:
Well-maintained bike and bike helmet (mandatory); bike lock; one spare tire tube and air pump (in case of a flat tire); a bike bell or horn; suitable clothing for riding in cooler temperatures (it will be chilly along the waterfront)--layers of synthetics are good as you can always add or remove a layer; bike gloves will be a necessity (there is nothing worse than cycling with frozen fingers); wearing a neck-warmer and toque under bike helmet is also a good idea if conditions warrant.
Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.
Strongly recommended: Front and rear bike lights and a fluorescent vest, so that you will be visible while riding in traffic.
