Itinerary:
Come and enjoy a winter-time horseback ride!

We’ll go horseback riding at Wildwood Manor Ranch, which is just 1 hour outside of Toronto, near Georgetown. Wildwood Manor caters to riders of all ability levels –- so even if you have never ridden a horse before, they will give you the right horse and enough instructions so that you can have a safe and fun ride. Alternatively, if you are a more experienced rider, you can enjoy one of the more "spirited" horses, so that you can also have a good challenge during our trip.

For this day's adventure, we'll start with a 1-hour guided horseback ride on the trails, led by qualified guides from Wildwood.

After the ride, we'll warm up and enjoy a light lunch provided by Wildwood Manor, which will likely include warm soup (with a vegetarian option), bread, and tea or coffee. This lunch is included in the cost of the day.

We'll then have about an hour to do some optional activities at the ranch. You can choose your own adventure: there is a skating rink (but no skate rentals; please bring your own), a hill for tobogganing, or an option for a short winter hike. After an hour with these options, we should ready to leave for home by 2:00.

I will also have a very limited number of 2011 Toronto Outdoor Club patches available on this day. They're $20 and cover all your voluntary donations for the year.

Important safety notes:

  • Helmets are mandatory for the entire time that we will be horseback riding. Wildwood Ranch will provide the safety-approved helmets. Please note that without a helmet, you will not be allowed to participate in the horseback riding event. The helmets are a TOC safety requirement, and refusal to wear a helmet will result in a review of your TOC membership. If you do not want to wear a helmet while horseback riding, please do not sign up for this event.
  • Wildwood Manor Ranch requires that all participants sign a waiver, which you will receive when we arrive at the ranch. This waiver is in addition to the regular TOC waiver that you are required when you sign up, and the waiver is also mandatory for participation in this event. View the waiver.
