Urban Hike - Humber River, Waterfront Trail, High Park (10/10/2010)

Itinerary:

WALK IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF GIANTS...DISCOVERY WALK...TORONTO...

The route: a moderately-paced urban walk from Etienne Brule Park and Kings Mills Park following the south Humber River Trail to the Waterfront Trail to Lakeshore Blvd. and on through High Park ending at Bloor Street at High Park Subway.

Bring Food and Drinks as we will stop for light dinner by Humber Bay Bridge/Park.

This walk follows in the footsteps of:

  • an ancient trail system - what is known today as the Toronto Carrying-Place Trail, running from Lake Ontario up the Humber to Lake Simcoe and eventually to the northern Great Lakes.

    This walk/hike is approx 12km+

  • drop out points are available along this walk
  • We are expecting to walk over varied terrain(flat trails, gravel, road walk, grass, etc).
  • AND YES, THIS EVENT GOES AHEAD RAIN OR SHINE, OR SNOW, OR WHAT EVER!


  • Required Items to Bring:
    • Hiking Boots or good quality(supportive) Runners
    • An additional Light Jacket - as it will get late and cooler by the lake
    • Water, hot beverage, food, camera
    • Poncho/Rain Jacket - just in case!
    • optional Flashlight

  • If meeting Via TTC: meet just outside the Subway entrance
  • If meeting by Car/Driving: park at Etienne Brule Park - SOUTH PARKING as follows:

  • From west of Toronto: Hwy. 401 to Hwy 427 south to Gardiner Exp. Eastbound. Exit at Islington Ave. north to Bloor Street eastbound. Turn left on Humber Trail. Turn right on Old Mill Rd. Turn Left into park.
  • From east of Toronto: Hwy. 401 to Don Valley Parkway south to Gardiner Exp westbound. Exit South Kingsway Blvd, northbound to Bloor St. Turn right to Old Mill Trail then right to Old Mill Rd. Turn Left into park.
