Itinerary:
Ring in 2011 at glorious Kukagami Lodge! Just think - no expensive parking, no need for designated drivers, a hop, skip and a jump from the party to your bed, no noise to wake you on New Year's Day...

AND Viki says that this is the last year they are planning to have guests in the winter - she and Al are planning to sell the lodge!

We are booking cabins at the lodge for an extended weekend over the New Year. All cabins have battery-run lights and are kept comfortably warm with woodstoves, and everyone has their own bed complete with flannel sheets, blankets and comforters. The lodge also has a Finnish sauna to enjoy!

Depending on the weather we may be doing a combination of hiking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. If there's enough snow, we'll ski or snowshoe 7km from the winter parking lot (it's an easy trail for those who aren't expert skiers) to the lodge; bags will be brought in by snowmobile. If there's no snow, we'll hike from the parking area, a truly memorable experience and not at all difficult...

The weekend includes Viki's fantastic home cooking, three meals a day and snacks of cookies, muffins or fruit at any time. Viki will happily accommodate food preferences and restrictions, by preparing great vegetarian or vegan meals. We'll arrive for dinner on Wednesday and leave after lunch on Sunday. Kukagami is truly a welcoming place in a wonderful setting!

Because this is New Year, there'll be a bonfire at midnight on Dec 31st, followed by a mini-buffet. Everyone can sleep-in on the morning of Jan 1st and then enjoy Viki's freshly baked Chelsea buns and other treats for New Year’s Day brunch.

Please note that we will be leaving Toronto on the morning of Wednesday, Dec 29 so you will need to make appropriate arrangements with your employer.
