Itinerary:
GeoFest!

Never heard about geocaching? Heard the word, but can’t quite figure out what the fuss is about? Here’s your opportunity to learn the lingo, join the geocachers, and get in with the in-crowd! If you're totally new to the concept, or an old hat, you're welcome to join us as we join about 700 others in this huge event!

If you are new, I’ll leave it up to you to do a little research on what geocaching is ahead of time! (and if you never find the time, don't panic, it'll all be pretty clear in short time.)

Meanwhile, let me tell you about the other fun things that we will be able to do while there. The event is taking place at the Kortright Centre for Conservation. They have about 16 km of walking trails, birds of prey demonstrations, and tours of the greenworks building. And as part of the special festivities, there will be a bbq where you can purchase (among other things) Back Bacon, Sausage, Hamburger, Hot Dog, Veggie Burger, Samosas, Rice, Pita, Chick Pea and Potato Curry, Assorted Pop, Water, Apple or Orange Juice, Apple Pie, Chips. OR you can bring your own lunch!

Don't mistake this event as being a carpool to Kortright where you can then take off and do your own thing. This is a group adventure! The agenda isn't written in stone, we'll play the day by ear. But here's loosely what me and my imagination have thought up:
  • Arrive at Kortright (10 AM) Register for the geocaching fun
  • Split into 3 or 4 groups and go on our treasure hunts!
  • Meet back up after a couple of hours and have lunch
  • Go for a hike (~ 10 km), check out the birds of prey
  • Tour the Greenworks building.
  • Time permitted, do a little more geocaching.
  • Head back to downsview @ 4 PM
  • If anyone is interested, we'll grab a bite to eat or a drink somewhere after
