EVENT is CANCELED due to warm weather

Ready for winter? Ready for a challenging adventure? Welcome to Ice Climbing.

14 Climbers: I will accept 6 participants with prior experience and 8 NEW participants.

In this guided, all-day lesson, you will learn the basics of ice climbing and belaying with professional instruction and all climbing equipment provided.

In a fun, safe environment and with the instructor's experience with cold conditions and risk management, you will have a safe, enjoyable and challenging climb.

Suitable for novice ice climbers, all equipment is provided.

When you sign up, please state in the comment box or email me your BOOTS SIZE (as you will be provided with specialized mountain boots on this event).

This event is on a first pay basis. People on the waiting list who pay in advance will be given priority after the registration cut off date. The event coordinator reserves the right to remove a member who does not have the proper gear for this event and will return their payment in full.

This event is hosted by EQUINOX ADVENTURES.

Equinox Adventures has offered courses, trips and programs in the Adventure Industry for over twenty years. They pride themselves in offering educational programs in Whitewater Kayaking, Canoeing, Rock and Ice Climbing, Sea Kayaking, River and High Angle Rescue. They operate a 140 acre base camp on the shores of the Ottawa River as the hub of their Whitewater activities and C.O.R.E. Program. Rock Climbing and High Angle Rescue courses are conducted in Southern Ontario near Milton, the Gatineau north of Ottawa, and various regional sites across Ontario and Canada.


Required Items to Bring:

CLOTHING:

  • Base Layer: Underwear - tops & bottom of lightweight/moisture wicking material
  • Mid Layer: Fleece / soft shell / hoodie / sweater
  • Outer Layer: Waterproof/Windproof/Insulated Outer shell
  • NO COTTON, NO JEANS, NO RUNNERS

GEAR:

  • Toque/Hat (that covers ears): wool or polar fleece
  • Balaclava/neck warmer: lightweight wool or polar fleece
  • Mitts: heavyweight, wool or polar fleece
  • Gloves: Winter/Snow - heavyweight, wool or polar fleece
  • Socks: lightweight & heavyweight wool or polar fleece (2 PAIRS)
  • Foot/Leg Gaiters
  • Extra prescription glasses/contacts
  • Sunglasses or Safety Glasses(shatter-proof)
  • Backpack/bag - to carry lunch, spare clothes, gear
  • Large plastic bags - to sit on, carry wet clothing, etc

FOOD:

  • Lunch - high calorie, chocolate bars, etc.
  • Thermos - hot decaffeinated drink or soup
  • Water - in a non-freeze container

Carpool Cost: Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $82.84 (calculated at total Km * $0.19, effective Friday, September 10, 2010). This is based on $0.08/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divide by 9. Your event coordinator will confirm exactly how much money is required from each person.

Notes:
  • There will be a social dinner after this event - 5 mins. away from our climbing venue.


    - Registration is NOT COMPLETE until you've signed up and paid by the registration cut off date. The money must be in the TOC's possession by that date. No exceptions.
    - When a minimum group size appears, this is to let you know that the event will be cancelled with full refunds to those who have already paid, if the minimum number of registered participants is not met. For any events where TOC needs a minimum number of participants, there will be absolutely no refund of money if you cancel.
    - We encourage all members to follow our Etiquette Guidelines at all times while participating in TOC events.
