Itinerary:

Join us for a morning bird walk at Colonel Samuel Smith Park!

Enjoy a relaxed morning walk through one of Toronto’s best birding locations during spring migration. Colonel Samuel Smith Park’s waterfront, wooded areas, and wetlands can attract a wide variety of birds at this time of year.

This is a walk, but the focus of the outing is bird observation. We will stop frequently to look at birds and discuss what we are seeing. Participants should be comfortable with a slower pace and regular stops along the route. Anyone solely interested in walking or hiking should not attend this event.

Date: Saturday, April 25
Time: 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.
Leader: Julia Zarankin (from Citizens Concerned About the Future of the Etobicoke Waterfront)

Meeting Point

Meet in the Power House parking lot (by the skating trail) at 9:00 a.m. MAP

Note: It is boat launch weekend at the yacht club, so the south parking lot will likely be very crowded and parking might be challenging. Arrive early to ensure a spot.

Event Plan

  • Meet at the Power House parking lot
  • Enjoy a relaxed bird walk through the park
  • Stop frequently to observe and discuss birds
  • Return to the starting point by approximately 11:00 a.m.

This event is suitable for anyone interested in learning about birds and comfortable walking at a slow pace with frequent stops.

This bird walk is hosted by Citizens Concerned About the Future of the Etobicoke Waterfront, thus it's important to be respectful to the guide by being on time, as she is not part of TOC and is providing her knowledge and time.

If you'd like to bring a bird checklist to keep track of sightings, you can print one here from CCFEW: Bird Checklist.
