Frontenac Provincial Park: Backcountry Canoe Camping (7/4/2008)

PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED: Once you've reviewed the event details, and decided you'd like to join us, you MUST sign up at the bottom of this page.You will then make your payment for this event at the venue, NOT in advance to the TOC.

Itinerary:
Due to the short notice of the trip, preference may be given to drivers, and experienced back country campers.

NOTE: Participants must wear their life jackets at all times while on the water for the duration of the trip.

Friday

  • Arrive, and deploy at a car camping site at Frontenac Outfitters (site #4,) just 2km from the park office and just under 7km from our entry point. Saturday

  • Check into Frontenac Park trail office
  • Head to Mitchell Creek at Bedford Road, load canoes rented from Frontenac Outfitters.
  • Canoe to campsite #11c on Kingsford Lake.

    Located on McNally Bay of Kingsford Lake. The shoreline at the site is sandy/rocky and the bottom shallow. We will canoe in, (without portaging), from Mitchell Creek in about 2.5 hours.

  • Set up and have lunch.
  • Canoe or hike under dinner time.

    Sunday

  • Up early for a quick breakfast, We have to have the canoes back by 9am so we’ll have to be packed up and gone by pretty early.
  • We'll do a hike in the park before heading out.
