Itinerary:
Dinner and Jane Jacob’s Walks: West Don Lands, Lunch + West Toronto Railpath Walk.

To honour author and urban activist Jane Jacobs, who died two year ago, Mayor David Miller announced in November 2006 that May 4 would officially be Jane Jacobs Day in Toronto. This year marks the second annual “Jane’s Walk” and will take place on Saturday May 3, and Sunday May 4, 2007, in numerous locations throughout Toronto. Each walk will feature a tour guide who can speak knowledgably about the neighbourhood, and will highlight the people, places, and public spaces that make that particular community interesting and unique.

We will meet at 10:15 am just before the first walk in Distillery District at 55 Mill Street (Mill& Trinity) outside Balzac’s Coffee, after we finish this walk we will go to lunch and then travel to the beginning of the next walk at the empty lot across from Gladstone Hotel, 1214 Queen Street West at Gladstone by 2:45 pm.

To take part you should be able to walk at a moderate pace with breaks for 5 hours or so. Though it is not required for other participants, I will be using bicycle to travel to, between and from the walks. If you bike, you MUST wear a bike HELMET. If not you can take TTC or drive a car.
