Did you know that nearly one-third of Toronto Pearson International Airport land is made up of grasslands, farms and creek valley?
Or that there is an open-to-public trail that runs through it?

We will hike along the Etobicoke Creek Trail, which runs along the natural border between the cities of Toronto and Mississauga.

We will be hiking on a mix of dirt paths, grass, paved and gravel paths and up and down a ski hill.

When we get to the airport lands, it may be noisy!! You may want to bring ear plugs. (Most of the hike will not be noisy)

If we are lucky the wind will be from the south or south east or east and we can watch the jets coming in low over our heads for a landing!!
If so, we will watch for about 20 minutes!

This is the route we will take.

  • meet at NW corner of Burnhamthorpe Rd E & Mill Rd (see public transit directions below)
  • hike to Centennial Park (including a walk up the ski hill)
  • stop in at the Centennial Park Conservatory to have a look at tropical plants and the talking parrots
  • head NW to the airport lands
  • have a lunch/snack break with jets landing or taking off over our heads (depending on wind direction)
  • hike further west to a Tim's
  • hike back to our starting point
