Bond Lake and Oak Ridges Trail - 22km (4/29/2023)

MAX hikers: about 12 (+ or -)

I set the Maximum Group Size to 4, because I can take 3 passengers, but this event can accommodate about 12 hikers if more drivers register or hikers meet at the event trail head.



By signing up for this event, you agree to, and acknowledge, the following:

  • Should this event involve a car pool, you will wear a face mask at all times when inside a vehicle

This hike will be along the Oak Ridges Trail, a combo of "there and back" with a couple of loops including one around Bond Lake.
There will be a few good hills, and many flat sections

We'll stop for a lunch break on the trail in the forest, preferably by the lake.

DRIVERS, WHEN YOU SIGN UP, PLEASE ANSWER THE CARPOOL QUESTION REGARDING THE # OF PASSENGERS YOU CAN TAKE IN YOUR CAR!!!
Members on the waiting list who are willing to drive may get priority.
Passengers will be added as drivers become available.
Alternatively, you can meet us at the hike starting location, but parking is limited.
No washrooms on the hike that I know of.

  • change of footwear for after the hike, if carpooling

Event Directions:

  • Leaving the parking lot, take Sheppard Ave eastbound to the 404.
  • Turn left and merge on to 404 North
  • Travel north along 404 for 18 km
  • Take exit 37 to Regional Road 14 / Stouffville Road
  • Turn left on to Regional Road 14 and travel 3.5 km
  • Turn right on to Bayview Ave and travel for 1 km
  • Turn left on to Old Colony Road. The trailhead parking lot is in 550 m on your left.

Carpool Cost: Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $15.48 (calculated at total Km * $0.258, effective Saturday, April 27, 2024). This is based on $0.08/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divide by 9. Your event coordinator will confirm exactly how much money is required from each person.

This hike will go forth snow, rain or shine

DON'T get left behind! Please arrive early, the carpool will depart promptly, and we will start hiking promptly.

If you are late, you will miss the carpool, and the hike.

If you choose to meet at the event, we will not wait for late comers.
