EVENT DETAILS

So, this is my first attempt at coordinating a hike on the Toronto Islands.
So, if it doesn't go well, I will learn from it and improve it for another year.

The plan today will be to traverse around the Toronto Islands, starting / finishing from Halan's Point, while also visiting Centre Island, Algonquin Island and Ward's Island for a 13 KM hike.
Here's my general plan

  • Meet on the Island at Hanlan's Pont at 10 AM
  • Complete a general walk of the Islands for 9.5 KM in the range of 1.5-2.5 hours
  • Stop for about an hour, just outside Centre Island for lunch or for those who would like to do a bit of self exploration.
  • Then whoever would like to rejoin me to walk back to Halan's point for another 3.5 KM, so another hour or so.

The entirety of this hike should be on either wide paved trails, park paths or roads.

In terms of hills, the island is pretty flat, with no climbs over 25 meters.

We'll aim for a pace of about 4-5 km/h on the walk.

There will be multiple opportunities to stop for a washroom break, including at Halan's Point, Wards Island & Centre Island.

PLEASE NOTE THAT LINE 1 IS CLOSED BETWEEN LAWRENCE & ST CLAIR STATION THIS WEEKEND
