Write Up:

The numbers say that 17 members showed up, but there were actually a lot more - interested guests and friends of members showed up to ask questions and socialize with other new members. If you haven't been to a new member meet & greet, I highly recommend it! I held the floor for the first 30 minutes or so, answering some of the most common questions and reassuring everyone to ignore the waitlists and sign up! I also gave away some secret tips and techniques (as coined by Bernd!) to make the most of their TOC experience.

As usual, there were too many people for me to really chat with - you need a 5 hour hike and a trip to Chalker's to get to know someone - but with the help of Dominic we managed to talk our throats dry. Katherine helped us out by convincing others to sign up for the bike trip on Saturday! I chatted with Lan, who is already familiar with several members, having taught a few classes of Yoga at the request of Min. She mentioned that she knew Erik, and I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not..ha! I'm sure we'll see some of these faces at future events, and Karyn told me that she is looking forward to the Amazing race - I assured her that Lillian will put on a fabulous event, as she has done so twice over. At the end of the evening, we left Alex, Arne, Bernd, Chi, Kaushi & Mirel indulging in some games of pool - free as always.
