After awaking from dreams of future TOC adventures, I quickly spooled up my computers hard drive and checked the weather for the day. Rain, high winds and a risk of a thunderstorm, not too encouraging. Not seeing any overnight cancellations from my intrepid TOC hikers, I had breakfast and geared up. I had three calls before I left, TOCers just making sure I hadn't wimped out because of a little rain. The heavy rain I drove through as I entered the outskirts of Toronto, did raise some doubts in my mind how this hike would turn out, but I had come this far and there was no turning back.
A hardcore group of hikers turned up at the carpool, they were ready to hike, even if it rained all day. Arriving at Speyside, I immediately regretted not bringing my snowshoes, as the trail was far lest used than the hike I had been on the day before. The rain had slowed down by the time we reached the start of the hike, so it wasn't too much of a problem. We had come prepared with rain gear, and we would let any amount of rain stop us.
By the time we were on our return leg of the loop the clouds had started to break and we were bathed in the late afternoon sunlight and treated to blue skies.
We finished off the day with a dinner at a nearby Kelsey's before heading back to Toronto, some of us bound for a TOC movie event.
