Write Up:
Near perfect weather was with us on this winter hike at Terra Cotta Conservation Area. I brought my brand new show shoes (GV Cat Trail 8x25 Snowshoes) to give them a field test. They were great for wide packed or unpacked trails, but when we reached heavily travelled narrow trails they became a little cumbersome, walking with one foot on, and one foot off of the trail. We weren't the only hikers out enjoying the day, we passed a group of about 20 travellers, which reminded me of the summer hikes where there were usually a long wait lists.

I did enjoy taking a small group out, we kept a steady quicktime pace, and we were able to complete the 17km in about 3 hours and change. I also managed to get Andrew and Alex to take the lead at several points during the hike. I had no doubt I could have convinced this energetic group to do the loop again, although Susan mentioned that she would require some coffee to do so. I didn't press the issue as I had some blisters forming from showshowing with police-issue boots.

We bid adieu after returning to the vehicles, our adventuring finished for the day. I slept soundly after returning home, dreaming of future TOC events and the adventures they would bring...
