Our first official volunteer meeting was a great meeting of the minds. Eight enthusiastic volunteers (that's everyone that was in town!) got together for some waffles, crepes and brainstorming. It was productive and we've got some great things in store for the TOC in the next few months. Click on our photo album to see what we look like so you know who to look for at your next event!
Some of the items discussed:
- our one year anniversary is coming June 1st. Look for a potluck picnic/BBQ on Toronto Islands! Bring your bikes!
- we will be having an annual general meeting for all members in the fall. This will be your chance to socialize with other club members, have your say and there will be prizes and awards given out to our most 'dedicated' members and best photographers. Watch for the award nominations this summer
- lots of great ideas from all our volunteers: Doors Open Toronto architectural festival (May 27-28). On-road bike trips, golf events, festivals, rollerblading, swimming, snowmobiling (next winter, of course!), Shakespeare in the Park, evening urban bike trips for busy professionals, to take advantage of the later sunset, The Bell City Chase, an Amazing Race-type event in Toronto, most likely in August; trail rides, horsemanship courses, Soulpepper Threatre, photography events, both outdoor and indoor; Art galleries, McMichael Gallery trip, Walk in the Clouds (near Halliburton – a ropes course in the trees!), bike the wine tour, urban walks and dinners - tour chinatown and eat chinese, greektown and greek restaurant, little india and indian food. So many great ideas!
