Another great tree-planting event with the Friends of the Don East! It tried to rain on us ... but we persevered and together with other members of the public, planted approximately 200 native trees and shrubs in a small park at the edge of the Don Valley. Species planted included white pine, elderberry, and pasture rose. The purpose of these plants is to reduce erosion into the ravine, as well as to provide more natural habitat for wildlife. It was great to see Vitaly out at his first event, and of course wonderful to see Amir, Linda, and Ihsan working so hard for the betterment of our community. Way to go, guys!!!
