Write Up:

Friday nights are a very busy night at the ROM, but despite the large numbers of people there, most of us managed to meet up on time and start off as a group. Once in the new galleries, it didn't take long before we were all caught up in our own interests and sort of split to go our own ways - some of us spending longer in the new galleries, others just reminiscing with some of the older stuff that has not changed.

I was particularily impressed with the new great room that used to be filled with display cases but now is open, airy and filled with couches for lounging and socializing. It reminded me very much of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

Two hours is not enough to see everything, but plenty of time for us old folks to feel sore and tired ;) and some of us met up after words for a drink and something to eat. We had planned to go to the Bedford Ballroom, but I had no idea it was closed! So, apologies to those who expected us to be there...we decided to head over to Gabby's instead where they had just put Grasshopper (a local Calgarian brew) on tap which started the conversation on places we've lived in our lives...and some TOC members have travelled and lived in some exotic and interesting places. I won't spill their stories here but the TOC does seem to attract some of the most well travelled people.
