We started our journey in two separate cars, with Sue and Gerry as our esteemed drivers. Sues car, packed with gear, groceries, David and Jenny stopped at Eddy Shacks donut store. Eddy Shack is a great Maple Leaf defenceman from the 1960s but has only 3 franchises unlike, Tim Hortons which can be found on almost every corner. Being hungry campers-to-be, they then made another stop for dinner at Kettles restaurant. Everyone had huge portions of great calorific food and arrived at the campsite registration booth at the same time as Gerry, Lisa, Charlene and Christine who had left Toronto about 2 hours later.

We started our day with a great breakfast of geographically shaped pancakes expertly cooked by Sue and Jenny on Jennys cool new stove. Then we went to Spirit Rock Conservation Area where we walked through the McRae Mansion ruins and down a spiral staircase to Colpoy Bay to the Spirit Rock. Jenny climbed up on the Rock while people below listened to the sound of the waves echoing under the rock.

Then we drove a scenic route to the Bruce Caves, which werent much like caves, more like crevices but are famous after being featured in the movie Quest for Fire. Jenny, Sue and Lisa were tired towards the end of the hike and rested in the curved bowls of the cedar trees. Gerry had opted to go back to the parking area and had a nap on the picnic benches.

We returned to the campsite for a yummy dinner of veggie & chicken fajitas. Some of us escaped the smoke of the campfire to go look at the stars.

The next day we went to the beach, the wind made for great bodysurfing. Charlene was determined to get a tan but Christine made sure she was covered from head to toe. David and Lisa went swimming twice and really enjoyed jumping in the waves. Two Chicks Caf and Smoothie Bar won rave reviews for their healthy food, as did Cosmic Fries for their fries well worth the 20-minute wait. We went shopping for clothes and crocs. We ended the day with drinks at the biker bar and watched the sun sink into Lake Huron.

We had a fabulous dinner of pesto & pasta. Gerry supplemented his pesto with his old stand-by turkey burgers.

On our last day we split up into two groups. Gerry, Lisa, Charlene and Christine went for a walk through the woods along the Sauble River. Sue and Jenny went canoeing with David providing ballast in the middle. Jenny persevered and mastered the J-stroke without sinking the canoe. After our picnic we drove home. Some of us stopped at the beach, went for a quick dip and then went shopping. David is now the proud owner of bright red pseudo-Crocs.

All in all it was a wonderful trip.
