Twas a beautiful day, though it started out a bit chilly in the morning as we left Downsview Passenger Pick-up. We quickly made our way to the Trailhead and after some fumbling with the parking ticket dispenser we were off!

It wasn't long before members and volunteer alike were overcome with the desire to run off trail and sample the many wild varieties of apples to be found. We wandered the 3-4k of trails before finding a spot on the credit river to have our lunch/snack. We tarried for a while enjoying the raging river, blue sky and great company (ourselves)!

We then set off in search of Cataract Falls. We made it to a lookout over the falls but were not able to do the full loop due to some trail maintenance that was going on. The Falls were in good form and a tourist train even strolled by as we watched over them.

We made our way back to Kettle Lake and hung for a good while at the beach hoping for a fish or turtle spotting - neither of which happened, but there was a sighting of a Dragon Fly big enough to scare many a bird, and what appeared to be a small otter at the end of one of the bogs where the level seemed pretty low.

After soaking in our fill of the ambiance at the beach we made our way back to the parking to prepare for the end of the event and our departure. Some members were again overcome with the desire to visit many wild apple trees and sample.

In the end everyone seemed to have a fabulous time, between the ideal temperatures, beautiful sunny day and our fill of wild apples!
