There were 28 people on today's hike to the Leslieville Farmer's Market Music Fest. It was a beautiful day, 22C, sunny, with a slight breeze.

Our pace, excluding two bathroom breaks, was 4.8 kph. Our pace including all stops was 4.3 kph. Use this as a guideline for other hikes. The terrain was pretty easy.

On Kingston Rd the stairs going down into Glen Stewart Park had one step damaged. We were careful and everyone got by it OK.

We hiked the beach trails over to the Ashbridges Bay loup. We met Alex Rochon-Terry, who is the coordinator of the Community Garden there. The food is given to the Food Bank. As it turns out, Alex is also a TOC member.

We left the paved trail and hugged the water. There were waves gently crashing onto the rocky beaches. Love the sound.

It didn't take long to hike from Ashbridges Bay to Eastern Ave. and the Farmer's Market Music Fest. This is the first time they've participated in Culture Days. There were wonderful smells there, fresh picked raspberries, pears, apples, and grapes and an assortment of vegetables.

There were six music groups playing, each one playing for about 40 min. When we arrived there was a quiet country group singing.

This farmer's market is independent and mostly run by volunteers. There are two employees who work part-time. Daniel Taylor is interested in having anyone contact him who is interested in learning to grow some of their own food. I'm interested in trying potted tomatoes and pole beans (green beans). His email: daniel@leslievillemarket.ca.

$33.10 was collected in Voluntary Donations. Thank you.
