The day started out a bit dodgy - the Don Valley was closed down due to icy conditions. If the DVP was closed, what would it mean for the 400? With trepidations and a few phone calls we decided to go for it with my trusty 4 wheel drive SUV that I promised had gotten me through worse conditions to Lake Louise and the Smith-Dorrien mountain roads. Nonetheless, we had some dropouts due to conditions. Then we had a bit of a mix up at the car pool, but four of us hardy gals decided we were going to make it to Snow Valley

It turns out the conditions were dry, the temperature was just right and the only snow was the snow sprayed in our faces on the 80 KM/h tube ride!

Kalyani confessed that this was her first winter outing even though she's been in Canada for years. She has spent every winter inside bored and praying for spring. She decided that the only way to beat the winter was to join it. Our virgin tobaggoner was a bit nervous (as we all were) on the edge of our first run. We decided to go down as a group, on the less steep run.

The second run we all did solo runs down the steepest runs. By the last runs Kalyani insisted that a particular run was the best one because it was by far the fastest! And we all agreed that winter activites were good for the soul. Kalyani insisted on making a snow angel, followed by Alana. I think this may become a TOC staple as I insisted that we need to try this again with deeper snow

The fresh air made us hungry and energetic, so we drove through Barrie and stopped off at a wonderful cafe called the Radio Cafe for some hot drinks and yummy nourishment. We can't wait to hit the slopes again - next time for some night tubing!
