There were ten people on today's hike. It was sunny and -7C at 10 AM and warmed up to -3C. It was quite nice but got a little cool by the lake when the wind gusted.

The trails were not icy today and we were able to make good time.

At the south end of Ashbridges Bay, in the open water, we saw 20+ Oldsquaw duck, with their distinctive "pin tail". They've migrated here from the north for the winter. We also saw 30+ Canada Gueese and a few male & female mallards. In the bay by the yacht club we saw 20+ Bufflehead ducks that have also migrated from the north.

We had a snack on a sheltered beach out of the wind and it was a comfortable temperature.

On the walk north again we walked through Greenwood Park where the new outdoor ice rink was officially opened today. There are actually two rinks, a covered hockey rink, and a circular rink. This allows for all day family skating even when there's a hockey game.

We walked north through Withrow Park to Danforth Ave. Some of us went to The Mad Italian's for hot pizza cone & gelato, and other's went directly to the subway.

$8.00 was collected in voluntary donations.
