It's been a long summer in the city, but the colours were out up north

When the TOC did this hike in the summer I knew it would be a perfect place to take a group of folks who have never seen fall colours before. And I was right. The height of the bluffs gave us a long view of Nottawasaga Bay, a part of Georgian Bay near Collingwood, Creemore and Stayner and other small rural towns. The canopy had thinned out just enough to let the sunshine stream in the woods, and our calgary contingent were amazed by the maple leaves and the bright red of the sumac. Then there were the abundant apple trees.

We lost a few hikers at the boulder climb, but the rest of us made it up, including Rocky. We found a great spot for lunch, played in some canadian shield rock formations.
