It was a lovely Spring day and we went to the Forest Valley Outdoor Education Centre for their annual Maple Syrup Open House. We were greeted with locally made maple syrup candy, saw maple syrup boiled and poured into snow (and ate it), collected sap and saw it processed, saw a tree tapped, and ate a pancake brunch with (you guessed it) locally made maple syrup. We went on a walk through some trails, balancing on beams in the marshy areas, and crossed back to the sugar shack to end the adventure with some hot chocolate. All in all, a lovely day!
