Write Up:

The group spent a very enjoyable afternoon skiing at Horseshoe Valley. The weather was pretty good considering it's late January - just below freezing and with filtered sun for most of the afternoon. The bitter wind that had been blowing at Downsview was blocked by the valley and the trees, and we ended up with near ideal conditions for cross-country skiing. Even with the unseasonal weather Southern Ontario has been experiencing so far this winter, Horseshoe had enough snow over the past week to have all trails open. Most of the group spent the before lunch ski time on the West trails, and after the break, on the North trails. Peter-Paul took advantage of a demo-day, and tried his hand (foot?) at skate skiing, something he'd never done before. When he met up with the group at the end of the day, it was very clear from his colour that he'd been working a lot harder than those of us on classic skis!
