Wow! What a stunning film! The people who cast the various roles did a brilliant job in selecting actors with more than a passing resemblance to the famous people being portrayed, and then those actors captured the mannerisms of their characters down to a T.

The film graphically showed the fragility of a woman caught between the old-style, stiff upper lip of British response to a crisis, and the more modern, touchy-feely, heart-on-the-sleeve, cult of celebrity that we have come to accept as the norm. Helen Mirren showed the bewilderment of Queen Elizabeth at the response of a public who turned on the Royal Family during the week following Princess Diana's death because of a perceived lack of respect, when in fact protocol demanded exactly the response that the Royal Household provided.

A true clash of cultures and generations...
